Hey Y'all! My name is Derek Sorensen and I am a nursing student at Snow College. I am married to a wonderful woman and we have a beautiful daughter. I am a huge comic book nerd and I enjoy watching football (especially the Dallas Cowboys and Utah Utes); baseball (Atlanta braves); and UVU wrestling. I have been working as an EMT since 2016 and have loved being surrounded by great nurses. This has made me want to become a nurse myself. Hey, it's me Jaden! I am thrilled to be part of the Utah Student Nurse Association. I am currently attending Dixie State University Nursing Program. I plan to graduate with my BSN in December 2023. I am from the great state of Texas which is where I earned a bachelor's degree in Communications. When I am not studying, I enjoy the outdoors, sports, and most importantly quality time with family. Hello! My name is Donna DeSilva and I am from Cedar City and am the advisor for the SUU SNA. I was born and raised in Southern California and have had a lot of life experiences before I became a nurse practitioner such as being a floral designer and a cross-country truck driver. It took me a long time to figure out that I LOVE NURSING! I started out as a new grad in a PICU in Southern California and enjoyed the challenge of learning so many new things and the intensity of an ICU-it suited my personality very well. I went back to school for my MSN and my FNP and moved to Utah-50 years of California was enough! I was thrilled to get a job teaching nursing at SUU and I absolutely love everyone there! Two other jobs fell into my lap since I have moved to Utah; I work as a hospice nurse helping clients and their families prepare for their final journey, and I am a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). I am thrilled to be a part of the state SNA!
